PODCAST a new way to learn

Over the past few months, many of us have had new virtual experiences, so I came to the podcast. We understand a podcast as an audio that you can download from the Internet; many times these audios tend to have creative or interesting topics. However, they are also an effective way of learning.

Many students, perhaps tired of the routine, are not connect 100% to our class with all their senses; the podcast is a way that they do not lose an important content. Just as they listen to music, they can also listen to us.

You publish the podcast in the classroom, allowing students to download it and include it in their personal libraries. It is important to take into account if we use very long recordings the students will get bored. The recording should last between 10 to 15 minutes; it should provide accurate information with a clear structure that allows the student to achieve meaningful learning.

In courses such as Literature, History or Psychology, specific data and information can be included, so the student could listen to these audios before their exams and remember the explanations that we are given during the class. If you think it will take more time in our lifetime, it does not. You could record yourself with your cell phone while you provide the explanation during the class. However, I recommend that you prepare it before, so that you cover all the relevant points of the subject.

The podcast will give our students more independence; students can listen to it in their own time. These quarantine times offer us a new way of learning.

Key points of a good Podcast:

1. Select an interesting topic from your course

2. Structure the content

3. Take care of the language

4. Record your podcast in a good environment

5. Post it
